Like vapour

It was just yesterday when…..

It seemed like a few hours ago…

Wasn’t that last year when ….

I realised that 2018 seemed to “speed right past me”, I didn’t get to enjoy the time and season. Well, let’s backtrack a little bit. This year was not exceptionally pleasant at the beginning. I was faced with a lot of ups and downs (mostly downs) but towards the end of this year, the cloud seemed to clear (I got married).

Like the opening statement, I’d made those countless times this year and looking back I’m wondering where time went.

During my personal devotion this week, this scripture came to mind

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

James 4:14 King James Version (KJV)

I had to take stock of my life to know if I was spending time doing God’s Will or mine. Here is why I thought so:

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 6:21 King James Version (KJV)

Then it clicked. Lately, I had been focused on my career and what next financially. I was concerned about finance and where I need to be in my career that I forgot God’s call on my life. God then reminded me that he knows what I need before I ask, and all I need to do is to focus on His vineyard.

Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Matthew 9:37-38 King James Version (KJV)

That was the wake up call I needed to get moving in the right direction. So when next things aren’t working out for you, take stock of what you do with your time. Is it being invested correctly in the Kingdom of God or in yourself?
