My course to Heaven

When I heard it, it wasn’t me
I knew I had to take that step
It wasn’t my way or intention
I shuffled my feet to get in

The sound still rings in me
Sounding perfectly clear
Like ripples in water, I see
It’s just like yesterday

Souls in waiting, many dying
No longer waiting, take it
Move swiftly to the rescue
Forget what it was like —

It may have seemed good,
Yes it was good, but move!
It’s time to say goodbye to me
Now calls the heartbroken

I am needed, I have to work!
This is my course to attain
Someday to reach the haven
Where stars await my crown

So I must plough like never
I must trod the dirt to save
I must kneel and dig in prayer
Drive me through without me

I will push forward, leaving me
So much grace surpasses me
I have to share it to all needy
So faithfully has he called me

But none of these things move me; neither do I esteem my life dear to myself, if only I may finish my course with joy and the ministry which I have obtained from [which was entrusted to me by] the Lord Jesus, faithfully to attest to the good news (Gospel) of God’s grace (His unmerited favor, spiritual blessing, and mercy). (Acts 20:24 AMP)
